Carolene is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Advocate. She obtained her
Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Counseling from Union Institute and University. She also has an Associate and Bachelor of
Science in Psychology. Carolene is passionate about cultivating a space for her clients to feel safe
sharing their experiences without judgement. She believes in meeting her clients where they are,
supporting them through their healing journey and empowering them with the tools to become
their authentic selves. She believes that despite the influence our adversities may have had, it
does not have to determine our outcome.

 

Carolene has 11 years of experience working in various behavioral and mental health settings
with diverse groups of individuals from young children to geriatrics. Throughout her experience,
she observed how trauma can show up every day in our lives. This motivated her to deepen her
understanding of the individual and how their experiences influence one’s personality, the way
one engages with others, the way one receives and expresses information, and their perspective.

 

Carolene loves working with individuals 10 and up, couples and families. She supports
individuals that have found themselves stuck in a cycle of generational trauma as well as
individuals living with difficulty managing their stress, regulating their emotions, living with low
self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. She helps individuals identify their strengths. She supports
her clients through their journey of self-love. She works with individuals to find the words to
express themselves. She supports individuals with life transitions. Carolene helps couples and
families to better understand one another, process their challenges, and strengthen their bond.
Carolene utilizes an eclectic approach to therapy. She has experience in implementing various
treatment modalities, including mindfulness, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-based and Motivational Interviewing
(MI).

 

As all professional counselors in Ohio do, Carolene works under supervision and direction. This ensures that providing you with the highest quality of care possible, and provides you with a person to contact, should you ever need to, regarding the care Carolene provides.
